Rhyme Schemes began his career on May 18 of his 2-year-old year in a maiden race at Churchill Downs and then won his maiden in his second career outing with a 9 1/2-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong race at Ellis Park on June 15, 2023. The maiden win was so impressive that it propelled Rhyme Schemes up into stakes competition for his next start, where he was sent off as the even-money favorite on the tote board in the $200,000 Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 12.
Rhyme Schemes began his career on May 18 of his 2-year-old year in a maiden race at Churchill Downs and then won his maiden in his second career outing with a 9 1/2-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong race at Ellis Park on June 15, 2023. The maiden win was so impressive that it propelled Rhyme Schemes up into stakes competition for his next start, where he was sent off as the even-money favorite on the tote board in the $200,000 Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 12. Rhyme Schemes easily disposed of five challengers in the Saratoga Special, stalking the pace until moving to the lead in the stretch and extending to a 9 1/2-length victory in a 6 1/2-furlong winning time of 1:17.12 on a fast main track.
