Pipsy (IRE)

Pipsy, a Kodiac filly bred in Ireland, began her racing career in her home country and won two of three starts in 2023 at age 2, including a stakes race on Dundalk’s all-weather track. She moved to the U.S. for her 3-year-old season under the guidance of trainer William Walden and debuted in the Grade 3 Soaring Softly Stakes May 12 at the Belmont at the Big A meet.

With Flavien Prat riding, Pipsy broke very slowly out of the starting gate and was last of 10 early in the six-furlong turf race. She saved ground into the turn, moved out for a six-wide rally, and closed with a rush to prevail by a half-length, tallying her third win in four career starts.

The filly raced three more times in 2024, with her best finish a close second in the lucrative Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs in September. She returned for a 4-year-old campaign in 2025 and showed little rust in her return, romping by two lengths in a 5 ½-furlong allowance on the Keeneland turf in April.

That set Pipsy up for another graded stakes try in New York, and she made her second 2025 start in the June 5 Intercontinental Stakes at Saratoga during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival. With Jose Ortiz aboard for the first time, she broke swiftly from the starting gate and set the pace in the 5 ½-furlong, Grade 2 event. Pipsy was challenged by defending Intercontinental winner Future Is Now in the stretch, but she gamely held off that foe and prevailed by a half-length to tally a second graded stakes victory.

Pipsy is out of the unraced High Chaparral mare Experte and is from the family of French Oaks winner Aquarelliste and Grade 1 winner Artiste Royal.
