Pilot Commander won his career debut outing as a 2-year-old on Nov. 11, 2023, in his only start of that season. He returned as a 3-year-old to make his second start in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes at seven furlongs and finished second but then missed much of the rest of his 3-year-old season. He did, however, score one win in 2024 when able to capture an allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita on Oct. 5. He ended 2024 with a fourth-place finish in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita.

Pilot Commander got off to a fast start in his 4-year-old year in 2025, first with a win in an allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita on Feb. 1, and then with his first career stakes win in the Grade 3 $100,000 San Carlos Stakes going his wheelhouse distance of seven furlongs on March 29 at Santa Anita, where he topped and field of five by three-quarters of a length as the 2-5 favorite.
Pilot Commander is trained by Bob Baffert. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Justify out of the mare Rebuke by Carson City.
