Panthalassa (JPN)

Panthalassa is a Japan-based multi-millionaire with an international resume that includes Group 1 wins on both dirt and turf. After having raced much of his lifetime in Japan and earning two stakes wins, Panthalassa began to find his greatest success beginning in his 5-year-old season in 2022 when he traveled to Dubai and won the Group 1 Dubai Turf Stakes on March 26, 2022.

Panthalassa earned his biggest career win at the start of his 6-year-old season with a victory in the world's richest horse race, the Group 1 $20 million Saudi Cup at King Abulaziz Racecourse on Feb. 25, 2022. He went straight to the lead and went wire-to-wire to defeat a field that included American invaders Taiba and Country Grammer to win the $10 million first-place slice of the purse. The victory raised his total career earnings to more than $14 million.

Panthalassa is trained in Japan by Yashito Tahagi. He was bred in Japan by the sire Lord Kanaloa out of the mare Miss Pemberley by Montjeu.
