Ozara (IRE)

Ozara won her career debut on the grass at Saratoga Race Course Aug, 6, 2023. She was then tested in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine, a key turf race for 2-year-old fillies, and finished fourth behind She Feels Pretty.

She made two more stakes starts as a 2-year-old, running second in the Chelsey Flower Stakes at Aqueduct before earning her first stakes win by a neck in the Wait a While Stakes in December at Gulfstream Park.

The Irish-bred Lope de Vega filly opened her 3-year-old season with a 2 ¼-length win from just off the pace in the Ginger Brew Stakes Jan. 6 at Gulfstream. She led in the stretch of the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes in March 2024 at Gulfstream but faded to finish third. She next was beaten by three-quarters of a length when second in the Sanibel Island Stakes March 30 at Gulfstream in what would be her final start as a 3-year-old.

Ozara returned from nine months on the sidelines Jan. 3, 2025 at Tampa Bay Downs and rallied to win an allowance race by a nose. After an unplaced finish in the Grade 3 Honey Fox Stakes, Ozara regained her stakes-winning form with a 1 ½-length victory in the Monrowe Stakes April 26 at Gulfstream Park.

Ozara shipped north to Monmouth Park for the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes and finished third behind Whiskey Decision.

The bay filly returned to the venue of her debut win for the De La Rose Stakes July 10 at Saratoga and upstate New York suited her perfectly as she finished powerfully to win by a half-length. She stayed in Saratoga Springs for another try in a graded stakes and the fifth time proved the charm and she again closed with a powerful rush to win the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes by 1 ½ lengths under Dylan Davis for a breakthrough graded victory.

Ozara was produced by the winning Acclamation mare Cercle d’Or, a half-sister to 2015 Eposom Derby winner Golden Horn.
