Otto the Conqueror won his maiden race in his second career outing as a 2-year-old on Sept. 22, 2023, at Churchill Downs, and then repeated a month later in a Churchill Downs allowance optional claiming race on Oct. 29.

The back-to-back victories early in this career sent him up against stakes competition in his fourth career race where he was victorious in the $300,000 Remington Springboard Mile on Dec. 15 at Remington Park. Sent off as the 7-5 second choice on the tote board in a field of six in the Springboard Mile, Otto the Conqueror pressed the pace, challenged the leader in mid-stretch, and got the advantage in the late stages to prevail by three-quarters of a length. For his win, Otto the Conqueror earned 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby points series.
