Muth

Muth was victorious in his 2-year-old career debut when he posted an impressive maiden win on June 18, 2023, at Santa Anita Park. That score propelled him into the Grade 3 $200,000 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar in his second lifetime start, in which he finished by 4 1/4 lengths behind his barnmate Prince of Monaco at the distance of six furlongs.

Muth stretched out to a route distance for the first time in his career in his third start at 1 1/16 miles in the Grade 1 $300,000 American Pharoah Stakes on Oct. 7 at Santa Anita. Muth was sent off as the 2-5 favorite atop an eight-horse field in the American Pharoah, which is a key prep race for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile back at Santa Anita on Nov. 4, and Muth delivered with an effortlessly dominant performance to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Subsequently in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Muth finished second to round out his 3-year-old season.

Muth returned for his first start as a 4-year-old in the Grade 2 $200,000 San Vicente Stakes going seven furlongs at Santa Anita on Jan. 6, 2024. Sent off as the 2-5 favorite in a six-horse field in the San Vicente, Muth pressed the pace throughout and assumed command in the stretch and drew off to a 2 3/4-length victory.

Oaklawn Park was the next destination for Muth, who headed for the $1.5 million Grade 1 Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park for the second start of his 3-year-old campaign on March 30. Sent off as the 2.30-1 second choice in a 10-horse field in the 1 1/8-mile Arkansas Derby, Muth contested the pace alongside favored Timberlake but gained the advantage on that rival on the turn and put him away in the stretch. Muth then held off a late bid by Just Steel to win impressively by two lengths.

Muth is trained by Bob Baffert. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Good Magic out of the mare Hoppa by Uncle Mo.
