Moonlight d'Oro was purchased for $620,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2019. In her third start, she broke her maiden at Los Alamitos on December 13. She won a one-mile maiden race by three lengths, for trainer Richard Mandella and jockey Flavien Prat.

In her debut against stakes company, Moonlight d'Oro was sent off as the even-money favorite in the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Feb. 6. She lived up to expectations, making a strong move on the turn and drawing off to an emphatic win. With that victory, Moonlight d'Oro earned ten points towards to the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on April 30.
