After running second in his career debut, Keepmeinmind was tested in stakes competition as was runner-up in the Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity Oct. 3, 2020, at Keeneland. One start later, he rallied to finish third in the TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Nov. 6 at Keeneland.

Having placed in each of his first three starts, Keepmeinmind remained in stakes competition for the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes Nov. 28 at Churchill Downs. This time, his patented closing kick was enough to power him from last to first to secure the first win of his career and 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
After finishing unplaced in his first four starts of the year, Keepmeinmind earned his first stakes placing of his 3-year-old season in the Grade 2 Ohio Derby at Thistledown on June 26, 2021. He surged from last place to get third, beaten half a length. He followed that race with a second-place finish in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga on July 31. He battled gamely in the stretch with favored Essential Quality after saving ground all the way, but ended up falling short by half a length.
