Kathynmarissa

Kathynmarissa won four of 10 starts under the guidance of Richard Dutrow Jr., including the lucrative Pepsi Dueling Grounds Oaks Invitational Stakes in September 2024, before being transferred to trainer Chad Brown in summer 2025. She debuted for Brown with an easy 4 ¼-length win in a 1 1/8-mile allowance optional claiming race on turf at Saratoga in late August but then was sent to the sidelines for eight months.

The American Pharoah mare came back for her 5-year-old debut in a tough spot, contesting the Modesty Stakes Presented by Veritas Prime on May 1, 2026, at Churchill Downs, which was headlined by 2025 Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner and stablemate Gezora. With Jose Ortiz riding, Kathynmarissa rallied wide in the stretch and out-finished Gezora by 1 ¼ lengths for her first graded stakes victory and fifth overall in 12 starts.

Kathynmarissa solidified her status at or near the top of the female turf division in 2026 with another victory in her next start, which came in the Grade 1 $500,000 Dunkin' Diana Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the grass at Saratoga on July 18. Sent off as the 2.29-1 favorite in a seven-horse field that included three other Chad Brown stablemates in the Diana, Kathynmarissa rallied from behind and rolled past the field in the stretch to win by a half a length.

Kathynmarissa won her second consecutive graded stakes race in New York on Oct. 1 when she closed from mid-pack as the 1.34-1 favorite in an 11-horse field to win the $500,000 Grade 2 Flower Bowl Stakes going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Belmont Park. The Flower Bowl was a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series "Win and You're In" prep race, and with her victory, Kathnmarissa advanced to the Breeders' Cup Filly an Mare Turf where she is expected to be among the favorites on Oct. 31 at Keeneland Race Course.

Kathynmarissa is out of Chilean Group 1 winner La Dalila, by Milt’s Overture. She is a half-sister to Chilean champion filly La Poetisa.
