As a 2-year-old, Joy's Rocket was a three-time stakes winner. She won the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine on Aug. 1, winning at 1.75-1 for trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey Luis Contreras.
With Ricardo Santana Jr. in the saddle, Joy's Rocket went gate-to-wire in the Songbird Stakes at Keeneland on Nov. 6. Seven weeks later, she took the Letellier Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds by 1 1/2 lengths, again with Santana up.
