Gun Song began her career with a hard-fought win by a neck on a sloppy racetrack Oct. 21, 2023, in a sprint at Aqueduct. The Gun Runner filly finished third as the odds-on favorite in her second start, again on a sloppy track at Aqueduct, when stretching out from six to seven furlongs in December.
The chestnut filly made her 3-year-old debut at Gulfstream Park and set the pace before fading a bit late and finishing second by a length Jan. 11, 2024. She stretched out to a mile for the first time Feb. 9 in an optional claiming race at Gulfstream and dominated by 5 ¾ lengths.

Gun Song made her stakes debut March 30 in the Gulfstream Park Oaks Presented by FanDuel TV and encountered some trouble early. She was in contention through three-quarters of a mile in the Gulfstream Park Oaks but faded late in a fourth-place finish.
The filly proved up to the task in her second start in a graded stakes May 17 at Pimlico with a 3 1/4-length victory in the $300,000 George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes to give Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez his record fifth win in the race.
After the Black-Eyed Susan, Gun Song continued to compete mainly at the stakes level. In fall 2024, she won the Cathryn Sophia Stakes at Parx Racing which served as a prep for the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at the same track in late September. In arguably the best race of her career, Gun Song nearly pulled off a 44.80-1 upset over eventual Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna in the Cotillion, losing by a neck at the finish.
Gun Song closed out 2024 with another close defeat, this time by a head to Tarifa, in the Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont at the Big A. She lost her first four starts in 2025 as a 4-year-old, finishing second once and third once, but then regained her best form Sept. 26 in the Beldame Stakes at Belmont at the Big A, where she enjoyed a perfect stalking trip under regular rider John Velazquez and outfinished pacesetter and odds-on favorite Randomized for the win.
Grade 2 winner Nicole H, by Mr. Greeley, is the dam (mother) of Gun Song, who hails from the family of two-time champion sprinter Housebuster.
