Greeley and Ben

After a turbulent start to his career, including two layoffs of more than a year, Greeley and Ben came into his own in 2021. He won eleven races from fifteen starts, including nine victories in a row. He won the most races of any North American horse in 2021. The highlight of his season came on Sept. 26 at Remington Park, when he won the David M. Vance Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths. 

As the calendar flipped to 2022 and Greeley and Ben returned for his 8-year-old season, the win machine kept churning out the victories. Greeley and Ben opened the year winning  starting in January in the Sam's Town Stakes at Delta Downs,  and in the Stonerside Sprint Stakes at Sam Houston, and then a third straight win in March in a starter allowance at Oaklawn Park, giving him 12 wins in his last 13 races at that point, with the only loss in that stretch being a second-place finish coming in the Thanksgiving Classic Stakes at Fair Grounds on Nov. 25, 2021.

Greeley and Ben had 22 career wins going into the 2022 Fall Highweight Handicap at Aqueduct on Nov. 26 but had had never won a graded stakes race up until that point. In his 39th career race, Greeley and Ben won his 23rd lifetime race and the first graded stakes of his career with a gutsy and professional neck victory in a close four-horse finish. Greeley and Ben carried 130 pounds and ran the six furlongs in a time of 1:11.95.

Greeley and Ben is trained by Faith Wilson. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Greeley's Conquest out of the mare Traci's Wild by Langfuhr.
