Future Is Now, a Maryland-bred Great Notion filly, won her career debut Aug. 5, 2023, by 1 ¼ lengths in a 5 ½-furlong turf sprint at Colonial Downs. After a start on dirt where she finished a distant fourth, the filly was moved back to turf and, aside from start at Gulfstream Park that was switched to an all-weather track, she ran well on the grass, winning two of six starts with one second into spring 2024.
Future Is Now, a Maryland-bred Great Notion filly, won her career debut Aug. 5, 2023, by 1 ¼ lengths in a 5 ½-furlong turf sprint at Colonial Downs. After a start on dirt where she finished a distant fourth, the filly was moved back to turf and, aside from start at Gulfstream Park that was switched to an all-weather track, she ran well on the grass, winning two of six starts with one second into spring 2024.
The filly won her first stakes race in start no. 11 when she rallied from a stalking spot to take the five-furlong The Very One Stakes May 17 at Pimlico. Future Is Now then tried graded stakes company in her next start June 7 at Saratoga, facing a solid field in the Grade 2 Intercontinental Stakes Presented by MTV Solutions. She rallied from a stalking position once again and was all out to hold off odds-on favorite Roses for Debra by a head to capture her second consecutive stakes race on turf.
Future Is Now kept up good form in her final three starts of 2024, finishing third in the Caress Stakes at Saratoga and then closing out her 4-year-old season with back-to-back stakes wins in the Smart N Fancy Stakes, also at Saratoga, and then the Grade 2 Franklin Stakes at Keeneland.
Future is Now was back in training for a 5-year-old campaign and returned in the Grade 3 Giant’s Causeway Stakes April 13 at Keeneland. She did not miss a beat, returning to the winner’s circle after taking a thrilling edition of the 5 ½-furlong turf dash which ended with her defeating Pandora’s Gift by a nose.
Future is Now once again found herself in the winner's circle two starts later with a victory at Saratoga in the Grade 3 $175,000 Caress Stakes going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf on July 19. Sent off as the 2.20-1 favorite atop a field of nine fillies and mares, Future is Now pressed the pace throughout under jockey Paco Lopez and grinded her way through the stretch to prevail by a half a length margin.
Future Is Now is out of the Bernardini mare Past as Prelude and is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Call Another Play.
