A Fine Chardonnay, a Maclean’s Music filly bred in Kentucky, was one of the more impressive 2-year-old fillies during fall 2025 in her home state, winning first out at Churchill Downs by two lengths in a six-furlong sprint and then stepping up to stakes company and taking the Myrtlewood Stakes at Keeneland by a length at the same distance. She closed out her juvenile season with a third-place finish in the 6 ½-furlong Fern Creek Stakes at Churchill.

The bay filly returned for her 3-year-old debut March 14, 2026, in the six-furlong Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream Park and finished third. One start later, she returned to the winner’s circle with a rallying three-quarter-length victory over odds-on favorite Sneaky Good in the Grade 2 MiddleGround Capital Beaumont Stakes April 3 at Keeneland.
A Fine Chardonnay is trained by Ian Wilkes. She is out of the winning Bernardini mare Andele and is a close relative to 2004 Horse of the Year and sire Ghostzapper and to Grade 1 winner and sire City Zip.
