Ewing

Ewing, named for New York Knicks Hall of Fame center Patrick Ewing, made a sensational career debut July 5, 2025, at Saratoga Race Course. The gray or roan colt by Knicks Go led every step of the way in a 5 ½-furlong maiden special weight race and dominated by 12 lengths under Jose Ortiz as the odds-on favorite.

The second start for Ewing came back at Saratoga in the Grade 2 $200,000 Saratoga Special Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs at Saratoga on Aug. 2 and Ewing was able to extend his record to 2-for-2 with a one-length-victory. Sent off as the 1.70-1 second choice in the field of four 2-year-olds, Ewing took the lead from the start and took pressure from favored Obliteration but was never headed enroute to a wire-to-wire score under jockey Jose Ortiz.

A $585,000 purchase as a 2-year-old in training, Ewing was produced by the Indian Charlie mare Sassy Ali Joy and hails from the family of 1998 champion 3-year-old filly Banshee Breeze. He is trained by Mark Casse.
