Elusive Princess, a French-bred filly by the Japanese-bred sire Martinborough, won three out of seven starts with two seconds in her home country from August 2022 through June 2023 before shipping to the U.S. for a start in the Grade 3 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Oaks Invitational Stakes Aug. 4 at Saratoga.
Her two runner-up efforts in France came in Group 1 stakes where she was defeated by less than a length each time on soft turf, and the Jean-Philippe Dubois trainee proved once again an affinity for wet ground as she won the Saratoga Oaks on yielding turf going away by 3 ¼ lengths.
