Deterministic

Deterministic began his career as a 2-year-old with a first-out maiden victory at Saratoga, overcoming a slow start to rally to beat an eight-horse field going seven furlongs on Aug. 12, 2023.

Following six-months between races, Deterministic made his return to the races on March 2, 2024 for his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 $300,000 Gotham Stakes going one mile at Aqueduct. Deterministic stalked the pace all the way on a rain-soaked sloppy track in the Gotham and passed the leaders in the stretch to draw off to a two-length victory. The Gotham was a points race on the road to the 2024 Kentucky Derby, and with his victory, Deterministic earned 50 qualifying points for the run for the roses.

Deterministic made his final start on the road to the Kentucky Derby in the $750,000 Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by Resorts World Casino as the odds-on favorite. He tracked the pace from fourth and faced some traffic trouble approaching the stretch, but Deterministic flattened out late and ran eighth, beaten by 17 3/4 lengths.

Deterministic is trained by Christophe Clement. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Liam's Map out of the mare Giulio's Jewel by Speightstown.
