Crudo debuted in a six-furlong sprint at Gulfstream Park Feb. 8, 2025, and finished fourth after a rough trip as the 9-10 favorite. The highly regarded son of 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify improved greatly in his second race when shipped to Keeneland in Kentucky, romping by 7 ¼ lengths in an allowance race held at nearly seven furlongs.

That set Crudo up for his stakes debut and first two-turn attempt in the 1 1/16-mile Spendthrift Farm Sir Barton Stakes held May 17 on the Preakness Stakes undercard at Pimlico. The colt took command early under regular jockey John Velazquez and powered clear in the stretch to post an impressive 7 ½-length victory.
Crudo is out of the unraced Deputy Minister mare Blossomed and is a full brother to Japanese stakes winner Awesome Result and a half-brother to U.S. Grade 1 winner Sippican Harbor and to U.A.E. stakes winner Saayedd.
