Classy Edition

Classy Edition was impressive against New York-bred 2-year-old fillies in the fall of 2021. She won her stakes debut easily, taking the Joseph A. Gimma Stakes by eight lengths at Belmont Park on Sept. 24, then won the Key Cents Stakes at Aqueduct on Nov. 21. 

Classy Edition's 3-year-old debut came in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes Presented by FanDuel at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 5, 2022. She rated off the pace on the inside, and was blocked on the turn with nowhere to run. Although she found room late, she was outkicked by Kathleen O. and ultimately finished second. The next start for Classy Edition was a fourth-place finish in the Grade 3 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct on April 9 in what would turn out to be her final outing of 2022.

Following a nine-month layoff, Classy Edition made her return to the races in her 4-year-old debut on Jan. 11, 2023, at Gulfstream Park, winning a one-mile allowance optional claiming race decisively by 5 1/4 lengths atop a five-horse field. That win launched her into her return to stakes competition in her subsequent race, which came in the Grade 3 $150,000 Royal Delta Stakes at Gulfstream park on Feb. 18. Sent off as the even-money second choice on the tote board in a field of seven in the Royal Delta, Classy Edition stalked a slow pace and held off her old rival Kathleen O. for a 1 3/4-length victory in a time of 1:45.15 for the 1 1/16 miles.

Classy Edition is trained by Todd Pletcher. She was bred in New York by the sire Classic Empire out of the mare Newbie by Bernardini.
