Carson's Run

Carson's Run won his maiden race at first asking in his first career race as a 2-year-old at Saratoga, taking a 1 1/16-mile turf race on July 29, 2023. He followed that up with a second-place finish in his second lifetime start in the Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 31.

Carson's Run was entered in the Grade 1 $500,000 Summer Stakes at Woodbine in his third career start on Sept. 16. Sent off as the 3-1 third choice on the tote board in a field of eight, Carson's Run trailed the field much of the way and then circled horses on the turn and came into the stretch with an eight-wide run to roll past the field on the far outside for the come-from-behind victory. The Summer Stakes was a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series win and you're in qualifier, and the victory secured a spot for Carson's Run in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita. Subsequently in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, Carson's Run finished ninth.

Carson's Run was back as a 3-year-old in 2024 and earned his first win of the season in the $100,000 Take of the Cat Stakes at Monmouth Park on June 23.

Carson's Run earned the second Grade 1 win of his career when he won the Grade 1 $600,000 Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes going 1 3/16 miles on the turf on Aug. 11 at Saratoga Race Course. Carson's Run topped a six-horse field with a last-to-first move to win by three-quarters of a length.

Carson’s Run was next entered in the $2,337160 DK Horse Nashville Derby Invitational at Kentucky Downs Aug. 31. He raced in 11^th early in the 12-horse field and had to wait behind traffic for running room approaching the stretch. Once clear, Carson’s Run rallied powerfully to finish second behind European invader and race favorite Bellum Justum.

Next up for Carson’s Run was the $500,000 Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes Oct. 5 at the Belmont at the Big A meeting. Jockey Dylan Davis settled him at the back of the six-horse field in the early going in the 1 3/8-mile race before Carson’s Run seized command with a sweeping bid entering the stretch that propelled him from last to first for a three-quarter-length win in 2:14.22.

Carson's Run is trained by Christophe Clement. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Cupid out of the mare Hot N Hectic by Henny Hughes.
