A late-blooming sort, Belgrano did not break his maiden until his 5-year-old season, and did not win his first stakes race until October of his 6-year-old campaign. He took the Virgil Buddy Raines Stakes at Monmouth Park on Oct. 3, 2020 by a head, rallying steadily on the outside and getting up in the last few jumps. Jorge Vargas Jr was the winning rider.
Less than a year later, Belgrano won another stakes race at Monmouth Park. He won the Rainbow Heir Stakes on Aug. 28, 2021, with Isaac Castillo up.
