Award Winner posted a front-running 4 ½-length victory in a one-mile dirt race Dec. 15, 2018, at Gulfstream Park in his second career start.
As a 3-year-old in 2019, the Ghostzapper colt won one of six starts, prevailing in a turf allowance race in May and also running second in the Grade 3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park.

Award Winner struggled to find his rhythm in 2020 as he was unplaced in five races, but he rounded back into form early in 2021. Award Winner finished second by a half-length in a one-mile turf race in January at Santa Anita and then second again by a half-length in another mile race on the grass at the Southern California track. He halted a nine-race winless stretch with a win in a 1 ¼-mile turf race March 27 at Santa Anita.
On May 29, 2021, Award Winner outfinished graded stakes winner Acclimate to earn a hard-fought stakes win in the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes going 1 ¼ miles at Santa Anita.
