Amount was impressive in his first career start, on Dec. 26 at Gulfstream Park. He enjoyed a good trip stalking the leaders in the early stages of the seven-furlong contest, then pulled away to win by 5 3/4 lengths, for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Amount was purchased for $110,000 at the OBS Sale in the summer of 2020. His sire, Curlin, was the Horse of the Year in 2007 and 2008, and is part of a very influential line of American stallions, going back to champion Native Dancer. In fact, Amount is descended from that line on both sides of his pedigree. His damsire, Pulpit, is out of the mare Preach, a daughter of the great stallion Mr. Prospector. Mr. Prospector is a descendant of Native Dancer.
