Ain’t Easy, a daughter of top sire Into Mischief owned by Old Bones Racing, Michael Lombardi, and Joey Platts and trained by Phil D'Amato, broke her maiden impressively in her first race, taking a 5 ½-furlong sprint at Del Mar by 5 ¼ lengths on Aug. 21, 2021.
Ain’t Easy, a daughter of top sire Into Mischief owned by Old Bones Racing, Michael Lombardi, and Joey Platts and trained by Phil D'Amato, broke her maiden impressively in her first race, taking a 5 ½-furlong sprint at Del Mar by 5 ¼ lengths on Aug. 21, 2021.
The filly was then elevated to Grade 1 company for her next outing, the $200,000 Chandelier Stakes on the Oct. 1 opening-day card of Santa Anita Park’s fall meet. Stretching out to two turns and 1 1/16 miles, Ain’t Easy belied her name and made short work of her six opponents, powering clear in early stretch under Joel Rosario to win by 4 ¾ lengths. Ain’t Easy earned an automatic berth in the Nov. 6 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies with the victory via the “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series.
Co-owner Platts bought Ain’t Easy for $400,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale in 2020. She is out of the Group 3-placed, Australian-bred mare Ameristralia, by Fastnet Rock, and her second dam (maternal grandmother) is dual Grade 3 winner Heart Ashley.
