C.J. Johnsen grew up on the racetrack. When he was three, he could be found in the press box at Louisiana Downs carrying around his program and binoculars, helping the announcer call training races on the track’s public address system.
While in college, Johnsen focused on handicapping. He has qualified for both the National Handicapping Championship and Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge.
In 2012, Johnsen joined Kentucky Downs as the live racing manager and has since been promoted to the director of broadcasting and interstate wagering. Johnsen also owns and breeds Thoroughbreds with his father under the stable name CJ Thoroughbreds.
