In recent weeks, we’ve touched on trainer angles and using STATS Race Lens research to compare trainer statistics. But what makes a strong trainer angle? Well, there are a few key ones that you’ve got to look out for. Some trainers tend to do really well with 2-year-old horses, like Todd Pletcher and Mark Casse. Some trainers race better turf horses like Chad Brown and Mike Maker. But then you’ve got angles like horses coming off long layoffs, horses stretching out or cutting back, switching from one surface to another.
