The fields for the 14 races that comprise the Breeders’ Cup World Championships really begin to come into focus in summer and fall and this regular feature will offer a snapshot profile of one of the previous weekend’s standout stars.

Just after 2 p.m. on Aug. 14, the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner arrived at Saratoga Race Course.

The $1 million Queen’s Plate is the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown as well as that country’s oldest Thoroughbred horse race. In fact, founded in 1860, the Queen’s Plate is the oldest continuously run race in North America.
