Each week a panel of media members, horseplayers, and Breeders’ Cup World Championships officials release a poll tabulating their votes ranking the top contenders for the 2024 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic. The results are a weekly rating of the top 10 horses in contention and are determined by each voter ranking their top 10 horses with points assigned on a descending 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

It’s a rare occurrence when a 2-year-old manages to earn the Horse of the Year title at the Eclipse Awards, but then again, it’s not every day that a 2-year-old as talented and dominant as Favorite Trick emerges on the scene.

An abundance of top-tier racing last weekend across North America caused dramatic changes in the 2024 standings in numerous categories.

The Maryland Thoroughbred industry will have its moment in the sun on Saturday, Oct. 12, when Laurel Park plays host to the 39th edition of the Jim McKay Maryland Million.
