The Horse Racing Women’s Association (HRWA) has announced “Winning Strategies,” a three-part professional development series created to support women navigating leadership, communication, and decision-making in today’s Thoroughbred industry. The series is facilitated by Amy Brin, MSN, MA, PCNS-BC, a nationally recognized leadership strategist with more than 20 years of experience guiding executives and organizations through change.

In 2024, Brin entered the Thoroughbred industry as Interim Executive Director of Light Up Racing, bringing her background in healthcare leadership, nonprofit governance, and coalition-building into the racing space.

Available exclusively to HRWA members, the virtual series centers on practical leadership tools and peer connection. Through guided discussion, real-world case studies, and reflective exercises, Winning Strategies aims to provide participants with both actionable skills and the confidence to apply them in professional environments.

“Winning Strategies is about giving women in racing the space, tools, and confidence to show up as leaders — right where they are,” said Jordyn Egan of the HRWA executive committee. “This series reflects what our members consistently tell us they want: practical support, honest dialogue, and a strong peer network that understands the realities of this industry.”

Each session is 90 minutes and will be conducted virtually. While participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions for maximum impact, attendance at individual sessions is also supported.

Session One: Claiming the Reins — Leading with Confidence

Jan. 29, 2026 | 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET

The opening session focuses on communicating with clarity and courage. Participants explore their leadership strengths and communication styles while examining common workplace dynamics such as navigating hierarchy, handling interruptions, and developing executive presence. Case-based learning grounds the discussion in scenarios familiar to many women working across racing organizations.

Session Two: Voices Unbridled — Boundaries, Balance, and Growth

Feb. 26, 2026 | 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET

The second session turns toward professional development and sustainability. Topics include setting and maintaining healthy workplace boundaries, reframing fear into action, and building self-trust. Participants examine case studies addressing issues such as being underestimated, difficulty saying no, and cultivating balanced professional relationships.

Session Three: In the Stretch — Strategic Leadership Lab

March 26, 2026 | 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET

The final session emphasizes application. Participants work through high-stakes leadership moments — often referred to as “the stretch run,” where outcomes are decided — using frameworks for decision-making, influence, and resilience. The session also addresses navigating pressure, bias, and resistance while strengthening peer connection through shared problem-solving.

“Winning Strategies” is available exclusively to members of the Horse Racing Women’s Association at no cost. If you have not yet joined HRWA, you may do so by visiting: https://app.joinit.com/o/hrwa/.
