Brilliant Berti

Brilliant Berti won his maiden race in his second career start as a 3-year-old on May 2, 2024, at Churchill Downs. He then added an allowance win at Churchill Downs on June 7 and then parlayed that into his first lifetime stakes win in the American Derby on June 29 at Churchill Downs. He then finished second in the Grade 2 Secretariat Stakes on the grass at Colonial Downs on Aug. 11 and won the Global Tote Gun Runner Stakes on Sept. 8 at Kentucky Downs.

Brilliant Berti accomplished a lot during his 3-year-old season, but still lacked a Graded stakes win until he broke through with a victory in the Grade 3 $600,000 Bryant Station Stakes going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 26. Sent off as the 3-1 second choice in an 11-horse field in the Bryant Station, Brilliant Berti raced far off the pace near the rear of the field until circling the field on the turf and launching a seven-wide bid into the stretch to eventually get up in time to win by a neck.

Brilliant Berti pulled-off another high-profile stakes win at Churchill Downs as a 4-year-old, winning the Grade 2 $500,000 Wise Dan Stakes with a three-quarters of a length victory going 1 1/16 miles on the turf atop a seven-horse field.

Brilliant Berti is trained by Cherie DeVaux. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Noble Mission out of the mare Believe in Bertie by Langfuhr.
