Cruden Bay's only prior stakes appearance was a fourth in Steady Growth Stakes in Dec. 2023. In the Connaught Cup, Cruden Bay got up to post a neck win in a time of 1:21.27. With the victory, Ontario bred Cruden Bay pushed his record to 7-9-1 from his first 22 lifetime starts.
In his next start after that breakthrough graded stakes win, the Ontario-bred Big Screen gelding finished fifth in the bet365 King Edward Stakes at Woodbine and then did not race for nearly 11 months. He returned in the 2025 Connaught Cup July 20 at Woodbine, and rallied from well off the pace to score a repeat victory at odds of 9.10-1.
