Scylla

Scylla won her career debut as a 3-year-old in a six-furlong maiden dirt sprint at Keeneland on April 15, 2023. She then repeated in her second start when she took a one-mile allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs by 8 1/4 lengths on June 2, completing a 2-for-2 campaign.

Scylla returned as a 4-year-old in 2024 and won on her third trip to post that season with another one-mile allowance optional claiming win at Churchill Downs coming on May 4, 2024. Scylla then triumphed over graded stakes competition for the first time in her next race, which came in the Grade 3 $275,000 Shawnee Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on June 1. Sent off as the 1.27-1 favorite atop a nine-horse field in the Shawnee, Scylla pressed the pace throughout and took charge turning for home before drawing off to a 3 1/4-length win.

Scylla notched another stakes win in her next start, which came in the Grade 2 $500,000 Fasig-Tipton Fleur De Lis Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on June 29. Sent off as the odds-on favorite in a six-horse field of fillies and mares in the Fleur De Lis, Scylla raced in sixth for much of the race and then made a big last-to-first rallying move through the stretch to get up in time to win by a neck.

Scylla is trained by Bill Mott for Juddmonte Farms. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire Tapit out of the mare Close Hatches by First Defence.
