Rattle N Roll

Rattle N Roll broke his maiden at third asking at Churchill Downs on Sept. 23, 2021. He rated just off the pace and got by in the stretch to win by three lengths. In his next start, Rattle N Roll won his first graded stakes race. He won the Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity by 4 1/4 lengths at 8.70-1, rallying from behind with a four-wide move to win going away.

Rattle N Roll finished sixth in his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 5, 2022. Three weeks later, he was fourth in the Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds. He closed out the prep season with a sixth-place finish in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes.

Rattle N Roll was defeated in his next two starts when second in a Churchill Downs allowance optional claiming race, and then third in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes. He picked up his first victory of the season in the American Derby at Churchill Downs on July 2. He then endured a brutal trip and finished seventh in the Grade 3 Indiana Deby on July 9.

Rattle N Roll bounced back in his next start to win the $250,000 St. Louis Derby Presented by FanDuel Sportsbook by 4 ½ lengths. He then repeated in his next outing to win the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby by 1 ½ lengths on Sept. 25.

Rattle N Roll opened up his 4-year-old campaign with a fourth-place finish in the Grade 3 New Orleans Classic at Fair Grounds on March 25, 2023.

He scored a breakthrough in his following start, which was a victory in the Grade 3 $300,000 Bel Ali Stakes at Keeneland on April 22. Rattle N Roll topped a seven-horse field and won by 1 1/4 lengths in a time of 1:56.38 for the distance of 1 3/16 miles on the main track.

Rattle N Roll made his next start in the $250,000 Pimlico Special Stakes Presented by Bulleit Bourbon and battled gamely through the length of the Pimlico stretch to nip determined runner-up Speed Bias by a nose in the Grade 3 race. He completed 1 3/16 miles in 1:54.72 to earn his second straight graded stakes win.

Rattle N Roll stayed on a roll as his breakthrough 4-year-old season in 2023 continued in his next start in the Grade 3 $225,000 Blame Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 3. Sent off as the 8-5 favorite on the tote board  in a field of eight in the Blame, Rattle N Roll saved ground near the back of the pack, moved into striking position on the turn, waited for a hole to open up in traffic and then got through with a burst up the inside and prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths on the line for his third Grade 3 win in a row at three different tracks. His winning streak ended when second by a half a length in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Stakes on July 1.

Rattle N Roll missed a year of action between the 2023 and 2024 runnings of the Grade 2 Lukas Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs and returned from the sidelines with a third-place finish in that race on a sloppy track on Sept. 28, 2024, in what was his 5-year-old debut. Rattle N Roll followed that up by getting back into the winner's circle in his next start in the Grade 2 $600,000 Clark Stakes presented by Norton Healthcare going 1 1/8 miles at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29. Rattle N Roll raced much closer to the pace than usual when stalking the leaders in the Clark, and then grinded out a three-quarters of a length victory in the stretch atop a field of eight.
