A son of multiple group 1 winner Holy Roman Emperor, L'Imperator started his career in his native France. He came to the United States in 2020, and finished seventh in his American debut in the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 29.
A son of multiple group 1 winner Holy Roman Emperor, L'Imperator started his career in his native France. He came to the United States in 2020, and finished seventh in his American debut in the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 29.
After that race, L'Imperator received some time off, and returned to the races on Aug. 4, 2021 at Saratoga. He won a third-level allowance optional claiming race by 1 3/4 lengths at 1 1/16 miles on turf. In his next start, he earned his first graded stakes placing, when he finished third in the Grade 2 Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga on Sept. 6.
L'Imperator was a non-factor in his 2022 debut, the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 5. He received a few months off after that race, then returned to the races with an upset victory in the Grade 3 Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park on May 7.
