This Fourth of July, many of us will go about our traditions of spending time with family, barbecuing, watching fireworks, and celebrating America. Over the years, many horse owners have paid tribute to the U.S. and Independence Day through the names of their racehorses. We decided to put together a list of some of the most patriotic horse names in American racing.

Thank you to everyone who sent in some of their favorite patriotic horse names via Twitter.

Equine Productions have released a trailer previewing the film The Fall, which will be shown on television later this year.

The powerful short film focuses on the mental health of jockeys and aims to raise awareness of mental illness within the sport of horseracing. The 22 minute film centers on a jockey having to deal with the suffocating aftermath of a high-profile fall at the final fence in an important prep race for the Cheltenham Festival.

An enjoyable extended weekend of horse racing is just around the corner as the U.S. celebrates Independence Day on Sunday, July 4. Several tracks are hosting important races, highlighted by a trio of Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” preps.

John Perrotta is an accomplished author/writer and a lifelong horseman with experience in nearly every aspect of Thoroughbred racing. Perrotta’s new book “At the End of the Bar and Other Stories” came out in May and now is available for purchase.

Activity on the Road to the 2021 Breeders’ Cup kicks into high gear this weekend under the iconic twin spires at Churchill Downs, with two Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series qualifiers scheduled as part of a stakes-packed card on Saturday June 26, the last day of Churchill's spring meet.
