The goal for this month with Finnick the Fierce has been consistency and intention. He and I found ourselves aimlessly wandering around the farm with no real goal in mind, other than actually riding, and when he inevitably got bored with that endeavor I decided we needed to take a step back.

After a jam-packed Independence Day holiday weekend of horse racing, the activity keeps humming during the second weekend of July, highlighted by the end of Belmont Park’s spring-summer meet and some big races in the Midwest.

After Oak Hill (Odin) and my first show, I sat down to look at the schedule of local shows and map out a path that concluded with the Thoroughbred Makeover in October.

This blog has been a little hard to write, because actually typing it out means that we have made a hard decision, but we know it is the right one. We have decided to withdraw from the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover.

The National Thoroughbred Owner Conference kicks off with a welcome reception at the historic National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame at Saratoga Springs, N.Y., this coming July 24, with the conference taking place July 25-27.
