Christophe Soumillon

Christophe Soumillon is a Belgian jockey who is successful on the international stage. Born in a racing family, Soumillon's father was a steeplechase jockey, and Soumillon has occasionally ventured into jumps riding himself.

Soumillon started out as an apprentice at Chantilly Racecourse in France and has gone on to win such races as the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Irish Oaks, Queen Anne Stakes, and Breeders' Cup Turf. In 2018 he captured the $10 million Dubai World Cup aboard Thunder Snow.

Soumillon occasionally races in the Breeders’ Cup and nabbed his first win in that premier event in 2005 aboard Shirocco in the Turf at Belmont Park. Twenty years later, he visited the winner’s circle again when he piloted 2-year-old colt Gstaad to a convincing victory in the Juvenile Turf at Del Mar.
