Irish-bred Wakanaka began her career racing in Italy, where she won six out of eight starts, including four stakes. She finished up her career there with a 1 ¼-length win in the Group 3 Italian One Thousand Guineas in April 2021.
Purchased by Team Valor International and Gary Barber, Wakanaka was shipped to North America and trainer Bill Mott. She made her debut on a new continent with a sixth-place finish in the Grade 3 TAA Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf Invitational Stakes Presented by Pepsi at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 29, 2022.
