Verity

Verity, a Godolphin homebred Nyquist filly, made her career debut near the end of her 2-year-old season and finished second by a head in a 5 ½-furlong dirt sprint at Churchill Downs on Dec. 1, 2024. She then shipped to northern Kentucky and Turfway Park for the winter, and won both of her early 2025 races on that track’s all-weather surface, taking a 6 ½-furlong maiden race by a half-length and then a six-furlong allowance optional claiming race by 3 ¼ lengths.

That set Verity up for her stakes debut, and she moved from contesting an all-weather track to a very sloppy dirt track in the April 6 Grade 2 Middleground Capital Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland, held after Keeneland postponed the two opening days of its spring meet due to persistent rainfall and widespread flooding. Verity handled the wet conditions with aplomb as she stalked and then overtook pacesetter and odds-on favorite Stunner to win the seven-furlong Beaumont by 5 ¼ lengths.

Verity is out of the stakes-winning Bernardini mare Moiety.
