Under the Stars broke her maiden in her third career start. The Pioneerof the Nile filly owned by Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier and Derrick Smith and trained by Bob Baffert won a maiden special weight race at Los Alamitos by three lengths on Dec. 11, 2021, overcoming a wide trip to win going away as the odds-on favorite.
Under the Stars took her stakes debut on Jan. 8, 2022, winning the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita Park by three-quarters of a length.
Under the Stars broke her maiden in her third career start. In her next two starts – both in graded stakes at Santa Anita Park – Under the Stars finished second (by a half-length) and fourth. She got back on the winning track in the Grade 2 Summertime Oaks at Santa Anita on June 12, stalking the pace and finishing strongly to win by 1 ½ lengths. That was her first win for trainer Sean McCarthy.
Under the Stars is the half-sister (same mother, different father) of 2012 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes runner-up Bodemeister.
