Turf King (IRE)

Turf King began his career with a win at first asking in a 3-year-old maiden race at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 16, 2023 when he won a 1 mile and 70 yard race on Tapeta by a neck. He then wasted no time getting his second win under his belt when he won an allowance race at Keeneland on April 28, prevailing by a head this time over a 12-horse field in a one-mile race on the turf.

Following his first career loss when third in the Jersey Derby at Monmouth Park on June 3, Turf King shipped up to Canada to run in the Grade 3 $150,000 Marine Stakes at Woodbine on July 1. Sent off as the even-money favorite in an eight-horse field in the Marine, Turf King did not disappoint and earned his first career stakes victory by a half a length in the 1 1/16-mile race run over Woodbine's synthetic main track.

Turf King is trained by Chad Brown. He was bred in Ireland by the sire Kingman out of the mare Sweet Acclaim by Acclimation.
