Totally Justified, a daughter of 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify, ran competitively in her first two starts during summer 2024, both of them on dirt, finishing fourth in a Churchill Downs sprint and then third in an Ellis Park one-mile race on a muddy track. Her connections then tried her on turf and moved her up to face stakes company, and the filly responded with a game half-length win in the P.G. Johnson Stakes going 1 1/16-miles Aug. 28 at Saratoga.

Totally Justified then competed for an automatic berth in the John Deere Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Oct. 4 at Keeneland, and she opened up a clear lead in the stretch of the 1 1/16-mile Jessamine Stakes Presented by Keeneland Sales under Manny Franco and fought hard in the final yards, only to come up short by a head to May Day Ready in a three-horse photo finish.
Kentucky-bred Totally Justified is out of the stakes-winning Galileo mare Outstanding and is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2-winning turf runner Masteroffoxhounds. Breeders’ Cup Turf and Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner Magician is another notable relative.
