Shekky Shebaz opened his career with back-to-back wins at Presque Isle Downs and made his first 13 starts at the Pennsylvania racetrack, posting three wins and four seconds between June 2017 and June 2019.
Switched to turf in July 2019 at Saratoga Race Course, the Cape Blanco gelding surged to a dominant win in a claiming race that indicated he might be best-suited to grass. He followed with a 1 ¾-length win in the Lucky Coin Stakes Aug. 30 at Saratoga before finishing second by less than a length in the Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes Oct. 5.
