Ny Traffic

Ny Traffic ran third in his September 2019 career debut at Parx Racing but proved much the best in his second start, posting a 3 ¼-length win Oct. 12 at the Bensalem, Pa. track. He closed out his 2-year-old campaign with a pair of unplaced finishes in stakes races at Parx and Aqueduct, respectively.

The gray or roan Cross Traffic colt made his 3-year-old debut a winning one for new trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., leading from start to finish in a 6 ¾-length triumph Jan. 11, 2020, at Gulfstream Park. He made his stakes debut in the second division of the Risen Star Stakes Presented by Lamarque Ford Feb. 15 at Fair Grounds at finished third. He followed with a game runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby March 21 at Fair Grounds.

Ny Traffic returned in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes May 23 at Churchill Downs and ran second to highly regarded Maxfield. The TVG.com Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park July 18 was next for Ny Traffic and he ran arguably the best race of his career up to that point when he rallied to finish second by a nose to heavily favored Authentic in a thrilling finish.

After defeats in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve and the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes, Ny Traffic went to the sidelines for the rest of his 3-year-old season. He won his 4-year-old debut by 6 3/4 lengths at Belmont Park on May 2, 2021, then finished second in the Grade 3 Salvator Mile at Monmouth on June 12 as the 0.90-1 favorite.

Ny Traffic dropped to New York-bred stakes company for his next start, the Hudson Handicap at Belmont Park on Oct. 30. Sent off as the 0.95-1 favorite, he drew away to win by 8 3/4 lengths, covering 6 1/2 furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:17.51.

Ny Traffic is out of the winning Graeme Hall mare Mamie Reilly.
