Nutella Fella Began his career with a win at first asking in a 2-year-old maiden race on July 26, 2023 at Delaware Park, overcoming a troubled start at 5 1/2 furlongs to win the race by 2 1/4 lengths atop a seven-horse field.

Nutella Fella subsequently was transferred to the barn of trainer Gary Contessa and sent to train at Saratoga, where an ambitious spot was chosen for the colt to make his second career start in the Grade 1 $300,000 Hopeful Stakes, the signature 2-year-old stakes race of the Saratoga meet. Sent off as a 54-1 longshot in a 10-horse field, Nutella Fella raced in last through the first part of the seven-furlong race and then moved into striking range at the top of the stretch. He then picked off horses with a grinding late charge and got up to win by 1 1/2 lengths. He paid $111.00 to win.
