Notable Speech (GB)

Notable Speech began his career as a 3-year-old in 2024 with a streak of four wins in his first four races culminating in a win in the Group 1 English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. He added another Group 1 win two starts later in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood (England). He ended his 3-year-old campaign with a third-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar, beaten less than a length.

Notable Speech returned to England for his 4-year-old campaign but endured a slow start to the season with three straight finishes outside of the top three in Group 1 races followed by a close second-place finish on Aug. 17 in the Group 1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville. He then came to Woodbine for a North American Breeders' Cup prep race and was victorious in the Grade 1 Rogers Woodbine Mile on Sept. 13.

Notable Speech was back at Del Mar to avenge his loss the previous year for another attempt in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Mile and took to the track as the 2.60-1 favorite in a 13-horse field to get the job done on Nov. 1, 2025. This time he left no room for error and took care of business with a victory. Notable Speech raced mid-pack most of the way, began to make his move at the top of the stretch, got through inside and kicked clear to win by 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Formidable Man under regular rider William Buick.

That victory in the Breeders’ Cup Mile helped Notable Speech win the 2025 Eclipse Award as champion turf male, announced at the January 2026 ceremony.

In his first start at age 5, Notable Speech ran in the Grade1 Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes at Keeneland. He was sent off as the 1.08-1 favorite in the race but was blocked and had to steady when commencing his rally in early stretch and finished fourth.
