New Year’s Eve made a nice impression in her career debut, closing from 10 lengths off the pace to win a one-mile turf race Dec. 10, 2021, at Fair Grounds. She followed with another fast-finishing rally Jan. 29 in her 3-year-old bow at the New Orleans track when charging from eight lengths back to win a 1 1/16-mile turf race by a neck.

Tested next against stakes competition for the first time in the Allen Black Cat LaCombe Memorial Stakes, the filly by Kitten’s Joy held her own in a third-place finish, beaten by a length by Kneesnhips. Trainer Brendan Walsh added blinkers for her next start to help improve New Year’s Eve’s focus and she rewarded him with an eye-catching, 2 ¾-length win in the Grade 2 Edgewood Stakes Presented by Forcht Bank on the May 6 Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard at Churchill Downs.
New Year’s Eve is out of the winning Elusive Quality mare Awesome Rafaela.
