Make It Big, a Florida-bred colt from the first crop of Neolithic owned by the Brunetti family’s Red Oak Stable and trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., began his career in eye-catching fashion, dominating a state-bred maiden race at Gulfstream Park on Oct. 9, 2021, by 8 ½ lengths and then coming back on three weeks rest to win a state-bred stakes race at the same track by 2 ¼ lengths.
Make It Big, a Florida-bred colt from the first crop of Neolithic owned by the Brunetti family’s Red Oak Stable and trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., began his career in eye-catching fashion, dominating a state-bred maiden race at Gulfstream Park on Oct. 9, 2021, by 8 ½ lengths and then coming back on three weeks rest to win a state-bred stakes race at the same track by 2 ¼ lengths.
He was then elevated in class and shipped to Remington Park for the Remington Springboard Mile Stakes on Dec. 17, a qualifying points race for the 2022 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. Make It Big dueled with Churchill Downs shipper Osbourne in the stretch and gamely prevailed by a half-length to earn 10 points for the 2022 Derby and improve to three-for-three in his career.
Make It Big finished a disappointing 10th in the Sam F. Davis Stakes on Feb. 12, his 3-year-old debut.
