Largent

Largent is a gelding by Into Mischief out of Life in Seattle, by Unbridled, who is named after Seattle Seahawks Hall of Fame wide receiver Steve Largent.

He won his career debut March 10, 2019, in a one-mile turf race at Gulfstream Park, leading from start to finish in a 4 1/4-length victory. Largen subsequently finished second in a May allowance race that was the final start of his 3-year-old season.

Returning for his 4-year-old campaign in 2020, Largent opened the year with a 5 ¾-length score in a Jan. 19 allowance race on the grass at Gulfstream Park. He subsequently ran second by a head in a February allowance-optional claiming race before posting a half-length win in a March allowance-optional claiming race, both at Gulfstream.

Largent earned his first career stakes win July 29 at Colonial Downs, pulling clear in the stretch to win the Edward P. Evans Stakes by a length in his stakes debut. After running second in the Lure Stakes in September at Saratoga, Largent won the Bert Allen Stakes by a neck Oct. 9 at Laurel Park as the 1-20 favorite.

Largent made his graded stakes debut Dec. 12 at Gulfstream in the Grade 2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes and rallied from off the pace to reel in pacesetter Halladay while outfinishing runner-up Breaking the Rules to prevail by two lengths.

In his 2021 debut, on Jan. 23 in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational, Largent finished second, beaten just a head by Colonel Liam. He was then sidelined for the remainder of his 2021 season.

Largent returned to the races in the Grade 3 Tropical Turf Stakes at Gulfstrea on Jan. 8. As the odds-on choice, he finished fourth, beaten 4 1/4 lengths.

Life in Seattle has produced three stakes winners: Largent, Grade 3-placed Kona Blend, and Edgewater.
